Mr. N. Bruce Thom was the Senior Vice President at Otter Tail Corporation. Mr. Thom spent 15 years managing Otter Tail Corporation’s acquisition arm. He founded the firm in 1989. From 1964 through 1965, Mr. Thom was the Assistant Manager at the Chamber of Commerce in Great Falls, Montana, and became Manager at the Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Chamber of Commerce the following year. In 1970, he was named Manager of the Fergus Falls Port Authority. During 1963 and 1964, Mr. Thom was a high school Teacher in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He also served on the staff of North Dakota Senator Milton R. Young from 1962 to 1963. Mr. Thom was also a Director of RAIN Source Capital. In addition to his duties in Washington, D.C., he also worked in North Dakota on the senator’s campaign staff. Previously, Mr. Thom spent nearly 20 years working on local, regional, and national economic development activities. From 1990-2001, Mr. Thom founded and chaired the Varistar Corporation, a holding company that operated telecommunications, construction, manufacturing, plastics, entertainment, health services, and transportation sectors. Additionally, he purchased the F-M Redhawks in Fargo, ND and currently chairs their Board of Directors. He holds a graduate degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota.
